Zhevago and Mittal to Contract Only After 'Kremikovtzi' Declare Bankrupt
‘Vorskla Steel' Company of Ukraine businessman Konstantin Zhevago and ‘Arcelor Mittal' Company of Indian Lakshmi Mittal are in serious competition for the buying of 71% of ‘Kremikovtzi' Steel Mill Company, the Bulgarian Economics Minister Peter Dimitrov declared. The Sofia Stock Exchange Collapses
A negative tendency, resulting from the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, was carried over the Bulgarian stock exchange. The indexes opened the week with a serious decrease of their values. SOFIX lost 3% down to 931, 2 points.There was a collapse of the market index BG40 - by 3,36% down to 226,364 points.The rest of the indexes in the stock exchange are also decreasing - BGREIT now reached 82,84 points, decreasing by 1,53%. още »

The Average Real Estate Deal in Bulgaria is 57 536 Euro
The real estate company Raiffeisen Properties (100% owned by Raiffeisenbank Bulgaria) reports an increase of almost 10% over the price of the average property deal in the Bulgarian capital in the summer, the press center announces. Deadline for Farmers' Aid
Today is the deadline for applications for aid to farm producers. The farmers with totally destroyed corn and sunflower fields in the last year are being compensated with aid of 10 levs per dacare for corn, wheat and sunflower.The resource for aiding farm producers was increased by 37 million levs with a decision by the State fund "Agriculture".The total sum of 24 million levs will be given for compensating losses. още »

GDP Increases by 7.1% in the Second Quarter
The increase of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2008 is 7.1% more compared to the same period in the previous year. This is preliminary data form the National statistics institute (NSI), distributed among journalists.GDP in the second quarter of 2008 amounts to 15.944 billion levs. The per capita GDP is 2081.56 levs. Calculated in Euro, the value of GDP amounts to 8. още »

Housing Prices Increase by 32% Per Year in Bulgaria
On a yearly basis housing in Bulgaria increases by 32%. Because of this the investment in a Bulgarian home is more profitable than an investment in financial assets. This is the result of a report by Industry Watch named "The housing market in Bulgaria for the third quarter of 2008". Bulgaria takes the 18th place on speed and quality of Internet services among 42 countries all over the world. The study is centered on countries in Europe, North America, the Organization for economic cooperation and development, Brazil, Russia and China. Inflation Reached 13,8%
Inflation in Bulgaria for the period January-August 2008 compared to the same period last year is 13,8%. This is information from the National statistics institute (NSI). The average relative increase of consumer prices from the beginning of the year is 6,3% while for August 2008 compared to August 2007 it is 11,2%.In August compared to July the prices of food products and beverages have decreased by 0,4% according to the statistics. още »

Bulgaria is not indicated as an attractive place for investment in commercial areas among the countries in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). This is according to an index of the company for market research PMR that places Bulgaria on the last 8th position.
